Built to be remembered
Our historic houses tours travel to buildings that were raised to make a point, and are still making it. In western Scotland you follow a landscape shaped by power, faith and imagination, from aristocratic estates to ancient fortresses and sacred medieval ruins along a dramatic coastline. In the east you trace the story of Mary, Queen of Scots through the royal palaces of Linlithgow, Falkland and Loch Leven. In Northumberland you stand beneath Bamburgh above the sea, walk the state rooms of Alnwick, the Windsor of the North, and cross to the holy island of Lindisfarne. Further south you explore the country houses of County Durham and North Yorkshire, and the great estates and gardens of England.
You travel with friendly and professional Tour Managers, including on some tours historians and lecturers in decorative and fine arts, who love sharing what they know. At many of the historic properties we visit, we'll be guided by people who know these houses and their collections inside out.
